REFLECTION
Experience:
Participating in this module has been a valuable and rewarding journey. Having the freedom to choose my own topic allowed me to delve into subjects that genuinely interested me, keeping my motivation high throughout the research process. I gained practical skills in conducting detailed research and developed a deeper comprehension of my chosen subject. Additionally, the support and guidance from my mentor, Dr. JinChi, played a crucial role in helping me navigate the process with confidence while staying engaged.
Findings:
One key insight I gained is the importance of conducting comprehensive research before finalizing a topic. This step ensures a clear understanding of the specific niche being addressed and helps guarantee the relevance of the data collected. Moreover, using diverse data collection methods enabled me to gather both qualitative and quantitative insights through surveys. These findings added substantial credibility to my research, as they were supported by evidence from a variety of sources.
Observations:
Effective time management proved to be a vital aspect of this project. Although the timeline was sufficient, adhering to a consistent schedule was essential for completing tasks on time and avoiding last-minute rushes. By staying organized and working steadily each week, I was able to finalize my documentation efficiently and incorporate constructive feedback from Dr. JinChi.
I also realized how impactful feedback can be in refining a project. For example, the survey responses not only provided valuable data but also helped me empathize with participants' views on well-designed and poorly executed dark patterns. While analyzing the responses required significant time and effort, it offered diverse perspectives that enriched my understanding of the topic and contributed to a more comprehensive exploration.
