LECTURES
Week 5 — Lecture & Class Activity
Card Sorting
We learnt about the types of card sorting and the pros and cons of
each. After that, we were grouped into 3 people and were tasked to
write all the features given and sort them into categories, and come
out with wildcards. One person in each group will serve as the
moderator, while the others will participate. The moderator needs to
observe the participants performance and question why each feature
is assigned to a given category. Participants must identify the
characteristics and create new categories and features depending on
the specified topic, a travel planning mobile app.

We were given the finance category, and we decided to do finance tracker
application. We discussed about the features and also came out with
categories to sort them into.
Week 6 — Lecture
User Experience Research
Mr Zeon briefed us about the user experience research and different
research methods and how to perform user research. He also concluded
last week's class sorting activity. We have to create a set of online
and interview questionnaires.

Week 7 — Lecture
UI/UX Design Document (User Persona)
Mr Zeon prepared supplementary learning materials for us. We have to
finalise our questionnaire questions, start recording interviews, and
distribute online survey. Besides that, it's recommended to start
developing at least three user personas.
Week 8 — Study Week
UI/UX Design Document (User Journey Map & Digital Card Sorting)
No classes. Materials are given by Mr Zeon in WhatsApp group.

Week 9 — Lecture
UI/UX Design Document (Site Map & User Flow)
In this week's lecture, we learned about the User Journey Map. User
Journey Maps are UX visualization documents that highlight the steps a
user takes to achieve a goal. Personas are formed using data acquired from
user and stakeholder interviews. As a result of these actions, we can
determine the most crucial functionality that an audience needs.

Week 10 — Lecture
UI/UX Design Document (MVP & Wireframe)
Mr Zeon briefed us on MVP and Wireframe part for our UI/UX Document, which
should be submitted by this weekend.

PROJECT 2: UI/UX DOCUMENT
Task Requirements
- Determine and verify target audiences
- Outline the content element of app, and do card sorting method to achieve optimum information architecture.
- List the app features and identify the application Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
- Create wireframes for main screens.
Things to include in the proposal
1. Introduction
- Start the UX design document with an introduction that explains the purpose and scope of the document, the target audience, and the problem the app is intended to solve.
2. User Research
- Provide a detailed description of the user research that has been conducted. These could include user persona and user journey map. Explain how the research informed the design decisions.
3. Information Architecture
- Outline the content elements of the App and how they will be organized to achieve the optimum information architecture. Explain the card sorting method that was used and how it helped to organize the content.
4. MVP (Minimum Viable Product) Features
- List the App features and identify the minimum viable product (MVP) that will be developed.
W6 / Card Sorting for the app chosen
Card sorting is a research approach in which consumers are asked
to classify various pieces of information or content. It works best when
we have precise, information-related questions.
App: Temu
Categories of Temu: 5
- Product Browsing
- Promotions
- Purchase / Checkout
- Customer Support
- My Profile
After identifying the categories and cards, I used Canva to sort the
cards into categories.
Figure 3.1 Card Sorting (Before Feedback)
After receiving feedback from Mr Zeon, I had to add wildcards, and
categorise the more important cards from the top to the bottom. I made
improvements.

W7 / Questionnaire Design
I did user research with online survey and interview. The
details are included in the images attached below.
Quantitative Method - Survey Questionnaire
Target Respondents: 50
Questionnaire (5 Sections)
- Section A: Demographic
- Section B: Usage & Preferences
- Section C: Temu User
- Section D: Temu User Experience
- Section E: E-commerce app experience
Qualitative Method - Interview Questionnaire
Target Interviewee: 3
Questionnaire (2 Sections)
- Section A: User Background and App Usage
- Section B: Temu App Experience, Usability and Improvement suggestions
Figure 3.3 Final Questionnaire Design
I distributed the online survey form on WhatsApp & Telegram. I
collected a total of 57 responses with the survey form and interviewed a
total of 3 people.

W8 / Create User Personas
The user personas are founded on research and actual data. After
gathering information through survey and interviews, I constructed these
user personas.

Figure 3.5 User Persona 3
After conducting the user personas, I constructed a user journey map
via MIRO.
- A user journey map is a visual representation of all the actions a user performs when interacting with a product.

W9 / Digital Card Sorting
This week, I focused on user journey mapping. I continued the card
sorting assignment by starting the digital card sorting process. I used
two platforms that were recommended by Mr Zeon, which is UXTweak and
Optimal Workshop.
Card Sorting Exercise (Final After Feedback)
Figure 3.8 Final Card Sorting Exercise
I began by using Optimal Workout and added in all my cards and
conducted a card-sorting activity and shared the link to two
respondents. After that, I compare the results of both and started
eliminating cards that are less than 100%.
Figure 3.9 Optimal Workshop Results
Then, I imported the eliminated cards into UX Tweak, as there are a
maximum limit of 20 cards, it was required to eliminate the extra
cards. I launched the study and sent the link to several people, in
hopes they will contribute to my study. The total responses was 7.
Figure 3.12 UX Tweak Results
After collecting all the responses from Digital Card Sorting, I did
an analysis and also created my architecture map, to outline the
main content and features of the app.

W10 / User Flow Chart
I started on my User Flow Chart on Figma. Click

Lastly, I had to figure out 3
Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Features of the Temu App:
- User-friendly Browsing Experience
- Seamless Product Display
- Efficient Payment and Checkout

REFLECTIONS
It was a very rushed process for me to finish this project as I was
ill for quite long, which affected my progress and productivity.
Nevertheless, I am thankful Mr Zeon do not judge me for that, and
allow me to consult with my slow progress. Creating the questionnaire
was the first part, although it was quite challenging, I managed to
get 50 responses within 2 days. This helped me get back on track.
During the interviews, I recorded all 3 within 2 days and I am
grateful my interviewees allowed me to do it on a last minute request
/ meet up.
The task that took up the longest time was to create the architecture
map and user flow chart. Personally, I am not very experienced with
Figma and Miro, so it really challenged me to learn the features and
functions. Besides that, these tasks were quite hard as it required me
to think outside the box. At last, I have been trying Temu to
understand the app a bit better for this study. I even placed my first
order for the experience.
