      REFLECTION

      Experience:

This module has proved to be an insightful experience. With the given opportunity of selecting my own topic, I explored topics that piqued my interests and it allowed me to stay motivated and interested throughout the research process. I was able to learn the methods to conduct a thorough research and understand the topic I have chosen on a deeper level. Furthermore, with the invaluable guidance provided by my mentor. Dr JinChi, I was able to sail through the whole process smoothly while still remaining engaged.

      Findings:

I found that it is important to do thorough and extensive research before committing to a specific topic. This allows me to fully understand the niche that my topic is targeting and ensures that the data collected and analysed is of relevance. Besides that, carrying out different methods of data collection allowed me to obtain qualitative and quantitative results from the survey which can help support the claims in my research. With these in mind, the data collected for my research article is backed with actual results from varying sources.

      Observations:

I observed that it is important to manage my time well. Even though the timeline given is sufficient, it is important to be on track to make sure all tasks are done, as being delayed can affect the outcome since it is a long-term documentation. By completing all the required tasks weekly, I was able to avoid last-minute work, and ensure that my documentation works are well completed. This also allowed me to receive feedback from Dr JinChi. Besides this, I noticed that feedback really helps in shaping the project. This applies to the survey I did, as it allowed me to collect responses from people, and to empathise with their thoughts on well-designed and poor dark patterns. Although it took a lot of time to analyse each participant’s answer for the survey, it was rewarding to read from different perspectives and opinions. This process allowed me to understand my topic deeper.
